Ms. Edwidge Danticat

Ms. Edwidge Danticat, was born in Haiti in 1969 and moved in the United States when she was twelve. She is the author of several books, including Breath, Eyes, Memory, an Oprah Book Club selection; Krik? Krak!, a National Book Award finalist; and The Farming of Bones, an American Book Award winner. She is also the editor of the Butterfly’s Way: Voices from the Haitian Dyaspora in the United States and The Beacon Best of 2000: Great Writing by Men and Women of All Colors and Cultures.

We are honored to announce that Ms. Danticat will be a presenter at the 18th. Annual Zora Neale Hurston Festival of the Arts and Humanities (ZORA! Festival) on Wednesday evening, January 24, 7:30 p.m. at the Robert Hungerford Preparatory High School Auditorium located on 100 East Kennedy Blvd., in Eatonville. This great cultural event is FREE to the public for that night.

The Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community, Inc. (P.E.C.) looks upon this evening with Ms. Danticat as one of the highlights of this ZORA! Festival.

Please disseminate this news in the community with the hope to have the Haitian and African American communities and the literature lovers at large come out in numbers to give their support to one of our own at the Zora Festival.
